Live your dream. Find your passion. Do what you love, the money will follow. I read this book eons ago when I was deciding whether to pursue a Master’s degree in Social Work.
We all know that Social Worker’s are not in it for the money. Lots of vritti’s (monkey-mind, distractions, frenzied negative messages) kept me from centering on my calling. I was worried about existing Undergraduate school loans and the as of then non-existent children I wouldn’t be able to support as a healer of the world. But my heart was and still is drawn to the helping profession. Enter: Yoga Teacher Training 15 years later. This ex-dancer and runner and writer found a fit that fit her life.
Just so you know: This post is not my bio or CV, there are much more exciting things to do like watch paint dry or March Madness. (Sorry Indiana fans and congratulations on advancing).
I simply mean to celebrate that I have taken one more step toward doing what I love as a means of helping to support our family.
I led my first yoga workshop: Deepening Your Yoga Practice with Clair Norman. As a means of exploring this platform of teaching, I offered this to a first group of faithful’s from the Goochland family YMCA. I am forever grateful the them:
for giving me 90 minutes on a rainy Sunday for us to luxuriate in Yoga, THANK You, each of you.
One selfless participant stepped aside and let me pop in on the photo next to my friend in the back row.
I hope you deepened your Yoga practice in some way. You taught me a lot. I have deepened my commitment to my dream and there is is no greater gift.
My dream is to teach more yoga, get more training and a more advanced certifications, fine tune my skills, write about Yoga and healthy lifestyles, offer workshops and cultivate a community of people dedicated to living vibrantly and fully in the present, to plant the seeds of positive change through my work and my life and to remember to be so very grateful that I can breathe.
The breath. The beautiful beginning. Of everyday and every dream.
First workshop down. Hopefully not my last.
Any firsts for you this weekend?
